Corpse of Discovery songs often begin with Zimmerman cutting a catchy loop on his sampler from some existing song, and then asking friends to jam to it. Once something musically original and coherent is formed by the players, through various amounts of time spent partying to, jamming to and "playing through" the loop, this original sampled "embryo" loop that served as the impetus for the jam is yanked away from the mix, leaving something that is hopefully fresh. We wish to thank our friends, Jersey–based band Elk City, for their excellent song "K-Mart," which provided the marvelous seed for this song. It's a fun and mesmerizing jam that's livened up many dance parties at The Dust Dive. Those ridiculous A.M. throwdowns are certainly what inspired Zimmerman to cut a "K-Mart" loop for the Corpses. (Though he had no way to know what kind of juice Loewenstein would end up bringing to the jam from left-field!...). Anyway, we hope you will check out the Elk City song "K-Mart," from their 2002 album "Hold Tight the Ropes" (WARM, Touch & Go).

The scrape down to the bottom
Through the credit grime
To the liberty dime underneath the linoleum

I heard crickets ringin
Down the bankrupt hollow

I got a cursive text from a scorpion from Cooley Lake
And all it said was "Keay"

Ah, Stardust
I looked down in the bottoms
I found phantom power in the backyards
And taxidermic movie stars
Yeah, in the bottoms

I woke up in the bottom
In the fragrant earth
In the afterbirth of petroleum

I heard a dead-man singin
Steady as a sun-dial

I had a heart-attack from a skippin CD
And a rainbow headache from all the Febreze
Down at the bottom, yeah
